Say what?

Two things that were said over the past few days that made me laugh:

After church on Sunday, John was sitting outside with his sisters playing with her new My Little Pony doll. He was actually brushing it's hair with the little plastic brush that came with it.

Erica: Hey John, I didn't know you liked to play with dolls.
John: It's not a doll. And besides, I'm a tomgirl.

I baked fish for supper last night. The kids are not used to seeing a lot of fish that aren't in the shape of sticks so they were a little wary. I knew they were going to start off complaining so I went ahead and put ketchup on all their plates to help them eat it.

Autie: I finished all my ketchup!
Me: You ate all your ketchup?
Autie: Yep. I finished all my ketchup.
Me: I put that there so you would eat the fish. Ketchup is a condiment, not a side.
Autie: Oh. I need more ketchup.

Another peep has a birthday!

This post is for my dear peep, Cherith Newman. She's one of my youngest peeps at 21, but she can keep up with the rest of us just fine. She is married to the very earthy Cole and they are expecting a little peep of their own soon. On this, her 21st birthday, I would like to list a few things that I love about her...

She's just adorable!
She's a powerhouse of a worshipper.
She loves to do special little things for her friends.
She's a great wife and helper to Cole.
She is a true Disney Princess!
She's got a quirky sense of humor that I love. And I don't think it's all that weird.
She's loyal and trustworthy.
She's a hard worker and can get things done.
She seems to be a bit competitive. I'm still watching that one!
She is going to be a great mom!

I haven't known Cherith for a long time, (I'd have to have been there for her birth!) but I am seeing more and more things to love about her every day and next year I expect this list will be twice as long! Have a blessed, blessed birthday, Cherith. I love you!

Better late....

I just want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of my favorite peeps, Brenda! I know her birthday was two days ago, but nevertheless, if it's in the same week, it still counts. These are some of the things I love about Brenda...

She is the kindest person I know.
She is full of spunk.
She's very wise and mature, but also very young at heart.
She's a foodie and can back it up with some awesome cooking.
She's a wonderful wife to hubby Jim.
She loves Jesus so much it's infectious.
Speaking of infection, she loves science. How cool!
She sees people the way God sees them.
She is a bold worshiper.
She's a great guitar player and when God gives her a song, man, she sings it!
She's a great hugger.
She has a great sense of humor and has made great strides in the area of sarcasm.
She is a fearless prayer warrior.
She's a big dreamer and an even bigger believer in those dreams.

Brenda Becker, I thank God for the day you were born and I consider it an honor to know and love you.

Love, Pam

Those resiliant little peeps

For those of you the least bit interested in science and for the rest of you who are simply fascinated by Peeps, check out this site. Some real scientists with more than a little free time on their hands, did some experiments on Peeps. And yes, among them is the microwave test everyone talks about every Easter.

Corrections:

Jennifer Mattern, of the popularly acclaimed blog Breed em and Weep, does feed her children well-balanced meals as indicated by her March 20th post "Nobody doos this!" My previous post implies that there is a vast difference in the content of "breed em and weep" and "The Cleaner Plate Club." I spoke too soon. There is, in fact, no irony whatsoever in finding a link to "The Cleaner Plate Club" on her blog. Apparently, her roommate in college rubbed off on her a bit! Let your "yes" be "yes" and your "blog" be "blog" regrets the error.

I know. I know.

I'm not feeling guilty. Really, I'm not. I just want to give an explanation as to why I've been absent from my own blog, yet have plenty of time to comment on others. Come to think of it, I've been absent from commenting, too. I have just been busy. And thinking about things. Things I'm not ready to comment on yet. I just finished reading a book called Starving Jesus. It's a very easy read. A little offensive maybe, for some. Definitely out of the box, edge of the envelope and a little wacked. I loved it. It lit a fire under me. It made me want to do something. Anything. I look at people differently. I wonder what's behind every set of eyes I see. That's all on that for now.

I also found a blog that I wanted to link as a "blog of the week" only it would probably be up for the rest of my life. I love it. It's called The Cleaner Plate Club. In an asteroid-sized bit of irony, I found it while browsing through Breed em and Weep. Erica and Trish, if you haven't seen it yet, you'll love it, too.
So that's it. Lots of reading and thinking. Two things that are highly underrated these days.
