Oh, the weather outside!

Can I just say I love, love, love this time of year? Especially when the weather matches up with the season. I don't like hunting for Easter eggs in the snow and I certainly don't like to be able to picnic during the Christmas season. As those of you who are lucky enough to live where I live know, today we had one of those classic Texas weather days. The seasons aren't really very well defined in this part of the world and today was sort of a two-for-one special. When we woke up this morning, it was in the 60's. When I get in bed here in a little while, it will be in the 30's.
Elliott and John hung blue Christmas lights on the house, we ate taco soup and listened to Diana Krall. Well, Elliott and I listened to Diana Krall. This was a good day. Anyway, getting the house ready for possible company this weekend, excited about the #1 party on Friday and celebrating Elliott and Billy's birthdays with dinner and the Christmas philharmonic on Saturday. Then it's Christmas tree time on Sunday! I love, love, love this time of year!

Happy Birthday, Honey!

Today, the love of my life turned 38! I just wanted to dedicate my blog to him today. So, if you can't stand mushy stuff please do not read any further.
I know it sounds trite, but my husband really was made just for me. We are very similar (that seems to work for us) and we had similar childhoods. We talk about experiences that we had as kids and what we thought about them or how we reacted to them and it seems we were separated at birth. I love his eyes, his twisted sense of humor that no one sees but me, his tender heart toward the underdog, his dedication to his work, his love for God and his family, his sense of adventure, and his love of all things old. That, of course, only scratches the surface. I want to let him know today that I am proud of the man that God has made him to be. I'm sure he feels inadequate at times, but he is a very different man than the one I married 11 years ago. He has blossomed (can I say that about a man?) into a confident man who stands up for what he believes in even when that means stepping way out there into uncharted territory. I am so proud of him for using the gifts God has given him to further His kingdom. I can't wait to see what else God has in store for our family. Most of all, I want him to know that I feel like the most blessed woman on earth to call myself his wife. Elliott, I love you.

Pictures!

Well, I promised some pictures so here they are...

This one, of course, is for Brandi. If you don't know who this is, you are not a true fan!

Here's Annette Bening getting a star on the walk of fame with hubby Warren Beatty at her side.

Thankful, thankful, thankful!

Elliott and I just got back from Nashville last night and I have to say, it was a really great trip. Even though it was a short trip (two days driving and two days there) it was packed with wonderful things. Pictures are coming, but I left the stupid camera in my mom and dad's car when they picked us up at the rental car place in Dallas. It's coming tomorrow, though. Back to the trip. Here are the highlights...I got to sit in on a co-writing session and hear Elliott and his publisher, Jason, create a song in 30 minutes. Very impressive! Had dinner with Jason and Michael (Elliott's other publisher) and their wives at a really neat restaurant in Franklin. Went to a #1 party at ASCAP given in honor of Elliott and Walt Aldridge. Watched Elliott and Walt do an interview with CMT Insider about the song. Met the Heartland guys at the party. Very, very nice guys! Talked our way into the back door of the Ryman Auditorium to see Heartland perform at the Grand Ole Opry.
All in all, God really went before us and made this trip really special. We have made some friends in Nashville that are the kind that stick! It's so awesome to see how God has had his hand in all of this since way before the beginning. Timing is everything!
We have much to be thankful for and know that this is just the beginning.

Sisterly love

This morning, the girls and I had breakfast with Elliott's mom and Aunt Sue. Autie was sitting at the counter with Sue and I overheard Sue say, "Autie, will you be my little girl?" Autie replied, "No, I can't. I'm mommy's little girl." Aunt Sue started to pretend cry and said, "What am I going to do? I don't have a little girl." Without even looking up Autie said, "You can have April."

I think they're going to be close.

In the beginning...

Well, you asked for it, so here it is. I have a blog now. I'm not sure what I'll post, but I'll try and think of something at least every couple of days. I for sure will be documenting cute things that my kids say and do because whenever that happens, Elliott asks me if I wrote it down in thier book. I, of course, say yes and then scramble for a piece of paper to write it on. There are little strips of paper in every nook and cranny of our house. No more! About the title, I have been putting off starting a blog because I couldn't think of a name for it and today Erica said, "Let your yes be yes and your blog be blog." I like it. Thanks, Erica!
